Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine was the toughest and most rewarding educational experience of my career. It challenged my ability to balance the tremendous work load of lectures, clinical application, and networking, while trying to maintain mental health. The student services are quite helpful and the staff is welcoming to any student at any given time. Diversity at the college can use improvement, as it can at all veterinary schools, however the more interest and applications... Read More

The problem-based learning can definitely be considered both a pro and a con. As someone who learned mainly from lectures in undergrad, this type of learning was definitely a change! But the benefits outweighed the challenges, because the integration of knowledge with the cases that we studied allowed the knowledge to "stick" better than I believe learning from lectures would have achieved.

Cornell is the top veterinary school in the country for a reason. I am specifically specializing in shelter medicine and Ithaca is where the no-kill revolution began, and the local SPCA is one of the best in the country. The vet school is wonderful and everyone is supportive of each other. Classes are extremely difficult but that is to be expected, and opportunities abound for networking and hands-on experience.

The Cornell University Veterinary Medicine program is known to be the oldest and best rated out of all veterinary programs in the United States. From the moment I was invited to the information session after my acceptance into the program, I felt the warm of the faculty towards the students. I no longer felt the divide between teacher and student. But as mentors, colleagues, and friends. All of my professors have been dedicated, intelligent, and passionate individuals who continually support the... Read More

The rigor and volume of work required in the veterinary program is high, but there is generally a great atmosphere; the faculty are incredibly willing to help all students and the intensity of the program encourages students to help each other out and thereby fosters friendships.

The Cornell veterinary medical program is the top in the world for a reason. The education provided is excellent, and Ithaca is actually a pretty fun town to spend 4 years. Granted there isn't a lot to do in the surrounding area, but you will be spending all your time studying anyways. The veterinary community is very friendly and helpful at the school, not overtly competitive (unlike the undergrad climate).
