This is one of the most affordable colleges to attend. Tuition is very reasonable, and the school is regionally accredited. Corsework can either be on campus or fully online. The classes vary in quality, but overall, I would say they are on par with any state university. The class portal, Blackboard, works pretty well; I did not have any issues.

First of all, I would like to state that FHSU is not a terrible school by any means, in fact, there are many redeeming qualities to this school. For example, both mentors I had were on top of it and even helped me graduate a semester early. I also have no complaints with the administrative departments. Not once did I have to wait an excessive amount of time to receive an answer to a question I might have, or trouble enrolling in courses. Even after I took a semester off I was able to jump back into... Read More

Residential life and housing here is a joke run by absolute clowns, departments don't answer calls and instead choose to use have you talk to a robot, and the cafeteria food is about as bad as the Griswald's family Thanksgiving. The campus is becoming beyond overcrowded as the president is trying to raise attendance rates, but the limited parking has not changed, and campus police are more than happy to write you a ticket for just about anything they can, seems as if they also have a quota.

Blackboard sites always have errors. The professors are unkind. They don't have a desire for education, they just keep saying the same thing. It's very unkind to teach the course. I don't know how professors became professors, but I don't think they are qualified. It's a really crappy school.

I enjoyed the classes I took however, the guidance counselor I was assigned was very rude and unprofessional. She didn’t want to guide me in anything. She told me instead of depending on her for answers I should look it up. That is what I was initially doing but someone from the school emailed me and said I was taking the incorrect courses so they sent me her for answers. I asked her if there was anyone else I could talk to. She refused to let me speak to anyone else until I became impatient with... Read More

Went to the online BS in CS program for a second degree (first is in Biology from Kansas State). The program is super affordable, and while the learning is largely self-study/self-directed, the curriculum is solid. I was able to land an internship at Boeing and got a full time offer for this fall. If you're willing to work at it, and use other learning resources (APress books, YouTube, Kahn Academy) you'll do fine. If you expect your hand to be held, you're in for a rough ride. A lot of my classmates... Read More

I obtained my Master's of Professional Studies-Criminal Justice from Fort Hays State University in 2018 in just a bit over two years. The courses kept me busy but were well organized and supported by the instructors...it was not a free ride and required a lot of work but was manageable. The costs associated with my degree were very affordable. My purpose for obtaining my graduate degree was to enable me to teach college level CJ courses as I move toward retirement from law enforcement and in less... Read More

I loved pursing a degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Fort Hays. The faculty were always eager to assist me and help me succeed, especially my academic advisor. I thought the curriculum was very well-rounded and has prepared me well for grad school and my future career. This being said, I wish I had received more assistance in seeking out opportunities for undergraduate research. At Fort Hays I found it easy to get involved, make friends, and attain leadership positions. There was always something... Read More

I have just completed the online masters program for criminal justice. I am a full time police officer working in another state . The work load was challenging but manageable. The school was very cost effective and the instructors held students to standards but were fair. I would certainly recomend this school to other criminal just professionals.

I started as an on-campus English major with a writing concentration. As an adult learner, I was also working fulltime. I even took 12 credit hours each summer. My job at the time had me take over and work as the "general manager" which I wasn't. My instructors were understanding, but after having to miss so many classes because of working at a corporate motel I had to drop that semester. I was then put on financial aid suspension, and even appealed it twice, and my area manager even wrote a letter... Read More

This program had some rough starts for me. However, the department is getting much better. The advising is better. There is actually a clear path of which classes to take and when. Staff can still be very uneven about answering emailed questions, and some of the adjunct professors are not as good as to be hoped for, or eager to make accommodations when requested (for those without an educational background). However, as I said, the school is improving. The value for the money, and the ability to... Read More

Great online programs with dedicated instructors. Graduate level courses are not easy, demanding but manageable. Unfortunately, my adviser changed a few times but they were all helpful and reachable. It is definately a cost effective school with a good ROI.

I choose this school because they were affordable, and the program was what I want to do in life. The program has since been discontinued, but even before it was, the classes have nothing to do with the degree. All of the classes are about academic research, and that has little to do with social media management. The instructors are barely interactive, I have regularly had professors not respond to emails, take weeks to grade assignments, and when they do, not provide feedback, but take points off....
