The program, in its' current form, is an unorganized mess. The advisors have no idea about course electives, curriculum requirements, or changes. Often course curriculum will change (it has three times since starting the program) and the advisor will make you change courses, even though you entered in a different catalog year. It takes the advisor weeks to get back to you and registration sometimes closes before you can get the information you need or permission to enter a course. Each of the professors... Read More have different and varying expectations. Some courses have little to no work in them, to the point you have no idea what you are paying for. Other courses, the material is non-existent and the professors have expectations for what you are supposed to know, but what is not taught by the program. The practicum placements are atrocious. The field coordinator cannot figure out where to place people and most people have to find a placement on their own. If they do not, then they will not be able to move forward in the program. This often leads students to take practicum placements that are not conducive to their career goals. Additionally, course grading is all over the place. During the middle of the program, the professors decided they started wanting an Abstract on every paper, however no one informed the students and the refused to change the grades or offer feedback. In the professional practice / counseling courses, the feedback made absolutely no sense, as if someone with schizophrenia wrote it. At this point, I have no idea what I am paying for. I'm not sure if other MSW programs are like this, but almost everything in this program is lacking. If you have other options, please go to another program.

Being in the very beginning stages of the Graduate program through Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis, I can honestly say it has been an easy transition from my undergrad program. I am enrolled in the Online MSW - Direct program and am very excited to get my graduate school underway. The IU School of Social Work in Indianapolis has a great program that harbors great group of faculty right in the heart of down town Indianapolis. The campus itself is extremely diverse with international students who come from all over the world. The faculty is very knowledgeable and experienced in their field of studies. They are always willing to help their students succeed through providing educational experience and professional networking. A downside to this institution is perhaps the parking.... I am sure this will make an outstanding difference to an already outstanding institution that provides quality education to a very diverse student body.

The School of Social Work Masters Program at IUPUI is a program that is competitive with others. The school has given students access to a great education through efficient and high level teaching that helps students to excel and critically think. The only downside of the program would be the accesibility to extra-curricular courses to help students learn specific things they are interested.
