This school is so frustrating! It is so hard to get a response from staff in the offices. One person says one thing and another says something completely different. I have lost total trust in this school. It took 2 years to get my major declared and I submitted multiple forms to have it declared as well as my minor which took 1 year. When you call a certain department such as financial aid or student services, no one answers. I live about 45 minutes from the campus and sometimes I would have to drive... Read More

Degree: Educational Leadership

Sul Ross State University's Educational Leadership program is a must for anyone looking to earn a Master's degree in the education field. The program is very affordable and the icing on the cake for me was the fact that the program is 100% online. The faculty was very helpful in preparing me for a career as a school principal. The class load was perfect for someone like me who held a full time teaching/coaching job while completing the program. I am very pleased of my decision to complete the program... Read More

It was great! The grad classes at most had 15 students. A few classes only had me. Also they don't charge more for grad classes than for undergrad classes so it is much cheaper, yet my degree is still well respected and I have an amazing job thanks to this degree

The Spanish language is spread all over the world. While it is true that the English language predominates today, Spanish continues to gain ground. More and more Americans are attracted to the language of South America. As are also more and more people of different nationalities who want to learn the Spanish language. So why not study a profession with a great future? Being a Spanish teacher is a very good option.

Degree: Public Administration

The Public Administration Program at Sul Ross State University is incredibly accommodating to online students. All of my classes took place online and I feel like I learned and absorbed the professor's lectures and information just as successfully as in a traditional classroom setting. The majority of people in my class were working full time as well as balancing being a full time student, so each semester was stressful and required skillful time management abilities. Each professor had realistic... Read More

It's the best thing in your life that you will experience. You will make life long friends that will support you as much as your family. You will experience so many new things that you will be thankful that you did.

Degree: Educational Leadership

As a working professional wanting to advance in my career, Sul Ross was the ideal program for me! They offered my degree of choice which aligns with state certification requirements completely online and are very affordable compared to other colleges in the area - I still need assistance in paying tuition, but it's a lot more achievable here! The biggest con I have is that the school's website is not the most user-friendly, but for coursework they use blackboard which is very easy to navigate!

Degree: Biology

A significant pro to my graduate program is the fact that we have the Big Bend National/State park right in our back yard. My advisory provides us with permits to collect and conduct research in both parks and provides research projects if we want. As a 1st year graduate student I have had the opportunity to take part in the Salt Cedar Beetle project as well as work in the invertebrate collection. A con to my program is the lack of funding available for student grants, research and travel opportunities.... Read More

This program is great for professionals who are already working in their desired career but are still looking to further their education in their spare time. This program is perfect for high school coaches and teachers whose workload is extremely time consuming on a day to day basis.

Degree: Environmental Science

The graduate program at Sul Ross State has allowed me an open environment to ask my professors questions, I have never felt intimidated when I needed help. I feel I have free range and am learning a great deal. However, the cost is very high, I would like to earn my degree without stressing about finances. There also seems to be somewhat of a lack of resources available to me.

Degree: MBA

The pros of attending Sul Ross was it worked with my schedule when I switched positions. I originally started taking classes in person and when my job no longer allowed me enough time to make it to a evening class, online classes came in handy. I don't find any cons to the school. The staff is great, the professors return emails and phone calls promptly.

Degree: Educational Leadership

My experience from taking on-line classes through Sul Ross State University have been very enriching and pleasurable. I have seen myself develop academically and gradually shift from the frame of mind of a teacher to that of an instructional leader. My on-line courses and professors are very flexible and accommodating yet challenging, demanding and educational. I know that I have made the right decision in choosing to pursue my masters degree and the next level in my career by attending Sul Ross... Read More

I am just beginning my masters degree here at Sull Ross State University. Through my first three classes I have been really satisfied with my professors, advisor, and all the staff at the financial aid office and the student enrollment service offices as well. I have only had a positive experience here at Sull Ross.

Degree: Art & Design

The pros of the graduate art program at Sul Ross State University are the student/teacher ratio, the affordability of supplies necessary to attend classes for the degree, and the willingness for faculty and staff to work with students to help with their academic success. The cons are the lack of scholarships for art majors, the cutting of funding for the program, and the fact that we've only one major professor left and may have to look for adjuncts to help with the course load.
