I'm shocked by most of the bad reviews to be honest. I had nothing short of a great experience with SLU Master Program. I will say that one must be prepared to write a lot of research papers, and devote a solid 2-3 hours per day to research for almost every one of the 12 classes in this field of study. It wasn't particularly difficult work, although it was quite labor intensive and staying motivated was difficult at times. Seemed like I would never make it to the end. My advise is to be prepared... I worked full time while earning this degree so at the most I could take two classes at the same time, and that was giving up all the free time I had no kidding, its that research intense. Although, I'm glad I stuck to it, and all that research knowledge can now be used as my career advances. Final note....all the interaction I had with advisors was also spot on!

First and foremost, my professors at SNHU were awesome and obviously very committed to their employment as adjunct online MS professors I was also initially impressed with my (chosen for me) online MS student adviser, Leah Blumenthal. Read More my situation via University standards was not considered an exceptional situation; thus, financial aid figured my good standing GPA of previous, with the 2 or 3 courses I withdrew from to care for my mother. In addition, financial aid considered me as a contract liability because I could not attend full time. Therefore, I was told via email and phone conversation by Leah, "I just wanted to let you know so it would not be a surprise if they academically dismiss you due to a now 2.0 GPA and now considered not even a part-time student status." Surprised? My mother died on March 07, 2016; I resumed studies in the fall term of 2016...successfully. I was emailed this surprise....two weeks prior to finals for the course (I was recommended to only take one course).....You do the math. So, it must not come as a surprise to anyone that I was no longer going to waste 30 hours per week researching when no one could guarantee me my academic continuance. Renate K. Initially, I thought this would be a great school for me to complete my Master's degree, without going into debt. I completed the Bachelors program, no problem. I loved the self-pace, my assignments were graded on time, and I paid my tuition in full, because I didn't want any elements of surprise holding up getting my degree, after completing all the courses. My only issue with the Bachelors course, similar to others, my books were delayed or never delivered, but I came up with workarounds (online... Read More bookstores). My problems didn't begin until I entered the Masters program. The doors to hell opened. The student services, or help desk (same people for the Bachelors program), can only help you with payments. SO, if you have problems with gaining access to your courses, FORGET IT! You now have to email someone that NEVER responds back to your emails. And the student services that was so supportive in the Bachelors program, are now clueless and act as if the Masters program is located across country and not in the same building. Two departments, although located in the same building, do not work together. A freaking black hole. In 2015, I registered for the Masters program and un-enrolled 2 weeks later, because as soon as started the assignments, I saw that I was not prepared, So, 2 weeks in, I unenrolled, and was reimbursed. Fast forward 2 years later, I completed the bachelors program, attempted to re-enroll into the Masters,program using my old grad student ID, and lo-and-behold, I'm locked out of my courses, this was on a Thursday. Saturday, I am still locked out, so I contacted the school and un-enrolled from the course. Need I mention, I paid the first tuition, upfront. But, after my attempt to unenroll, the student service began telling me I owed them the money that I had just used as my down payment. Really! And it gets worse, by Wednesday of the following week, they had the nerve to threaten me by sending me an email stating that my information was being sent to a debt collector. All this within a within a few days of me requesting my refund, which it took them almost 3 months to resolve. Here's where the lie kicks in....the email stated they had made several attempts to receive payment from me and now they're sending my information to a debt collection agency. Notice, this was my first time EVER receiving a debt collector notice from the school. Why wasn't this issue brought up during my Bachelors program? I asked how was this possible, when I unenrolled from the program, complying with the guidelines highlighted in the student handbook and received a refund. The school attempted to hold my downpayment, but could not provide me any proof showing where I owed them money. I got so much runaround trying to resolve this issue. For the Bachelors program, someone can be reached to resolve issues. For the Masters program, you'll find Jimmy Hoffa before someone picks up the phone. Oh, did I mention that for the Masters Program, you cannot contact anyone by phone for assistance. You have to send an email and wait until that person contacts you. For nearly 3 months, I had to fight to get my down payment back. This hold process was sickening. I wanted nothing more to do with this school. When I started taking names and threatened to report them for what was going on, some sweet lady stepped in and helped reimbursed me my down payment, stating it was an error on their end. The unnecessary stress that this school tries to invoke on its student, isn't worth the headache, especially when you know you haven't done anything wrong. This school could be a great school, because it offers a convenience that is very hard to find in other online accredited colleges, but some of its employees lack integrity and do not live up to what's written in the student handbook. They're quick to hold the students accountable, but won't hold themselves accountable.

Overall great experience. Sometimes it was a struggle to get through to talk to someone. Some issues with online communications. Instructors were amazing. Some things I remember learning about in undergraduate but at a graduate level it was more in depth. I feel I learned about a different side or new role of a similar topic I had already known about. OMG....this is a joke. Lets start at the beginning. My counselor seem nice at first until i wanted to withdrawal from the course. I told her there was ALOT of things going on in my personal life so want to withdrawal. She advice me to hold on and try it until Friday of the week and i did. On friday i called left a message and emailed nothing. i did the same thing on Saturday and nothing. Monday come around and she calls. Now i am ready to start in another school they are holding my transcripts stating i owe money, but no one sent anything and they have someone else email account attached to my name (so i did not get a thing). I asked why they could not mail me paperwork and no answer. NO one can seem to answer the question HOW MUCH do i owe. I was send to the collection department which told me the registars office stated i was upset and they need to explain in detail why i owe, but i have to call another office to get the amount.WHAT the.....why not tell me the amount heck i am sure since the withdrawal did not go though I am sure they gave me an 'F' now snhu want me to pay them NOT (that would be the reason i do not need it to be explained to me in details) DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR EDUCATION.

As a first generation college student and first generation military member it was important for me to choose my futures possibilities with great scrutiny. Being a member of the Armed Forces taught me a lot about dealing with adversity and change and to challenge myself physically; being a student with UMUC taught me to challenge myself intellectually and emotionally; it gave me the ability to implement sound time management principles and the ability to persevere when I had to use the other tools... UMUC was with me in every country I went to, on every deployment I was sent to, and their advisors really cared about me as a person and were willing to help me even when I didn't know what I wanted help with. To that end, and with zero hesitation, I would highly recommend University of Maryland University College to anyone whose not so ordinary lifestyle demands special needs, needs that can be met by a special University.

The ease of admissions and enrollment made my decision easy. I initially enjoyed the school and courses until there was an issue with a professor. I quickly learned that there is not a Dean of Students or Department Chair to oversee the professors. I pay too much money to attend classes while being treated like a third grader. I also prefer hard copy textbooks. The cost of books is included in the tuition. I prefer to keep my books for future reference. Current textbooks are only accessible online,...
