I went to graduate school to become a nurse practitioner. I could tell that this was a newer program for SUNY poly. The professors were building the program as they went along and it was noticeable. There were organizational issues. Most of the teachers were also in school.

SUNY Poly was a very poor choice for undergraduate education. I would look anywhere else in the area for college education, especially if pursuing Engineering. Some departments have professors that truly value your learning and will work with you to get your knowledge to where it needs to be. Others are just simply there for the grant money and could not care less about how you perform or how effective their teaching is.

I have only been enrolled in this school for a month as an online student and all I have received are difficulties. First, my advisor didn't know what they were doing. They kept making me sign up for a class that didn't even exist and when I emailed them their response every 4 times I asked what to sign up for since the class wasn't a thing was "sign up for that class, thanks". Now at the start of my online semester I have had issues with a professor who claims they have.. "over 14 years of experience... Read More

I had gone to the Utica campus expecting to get a degree and get some job experience in the new building that was advertised as full of businesses looking for internships and co-ops. But turns out the building was empty due to poor construction and had to be redone. So I got my degree but there were no opportunities for job experience. The school clubs did nothing interesting or were overcrowded and the social scene was dead. The food, teachers, scenery and course work were nice though and I learned... Read More

The faculty in this program are terrible. It is unorganized and the faculty are unresponsive to questions. Many of the lectures are simply then reading slides with words they can’t even pronounce. They have an “eat your young” mentality and practice fear mongering. Choose a different program, it’s worth being waitlisted.

I am currently a graduate student and I recently graduated with my Bachelor's Degree at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. To me, the university is such a great place to be at. It really is such a friendly environment university. SUNY Polytechnic Institute offers many majors and I decided to pursue my education in Business Administration. The teachers in this program are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They are professionals in their field and are willing to help students gain skills. The schools focus is on technology, but not on the arts. The school is well maintained and there are many clubs offered to students. Overall, the school is a great option.

If I can save but one soul from going to this excuse of a college, I will not have lived in vain! The advisors here are absolutely horrible and make decisions, that affect your life, with reckless abandon. Mine didn't apply my transfer credits for over a year, he didn't want to meet with me, and he barred me from a required class three times for which I had the pre-reqs. The professors do not care about their students and Nearly everyone on campus acts like they are doing you a favor when they do... Read More

Suny Institute of Technology (now known as SUNY Polytechnic Institute) is a wonderful school for professionals who are currently working, but are trying to continue their education. I currently work full time for a government agency. I am able to complete my class work online, on my own time, through SUNY Polytechnic. I tried taking courses at a local college in the evenings, but at the time I was traveling quite a bit for work, and was penalized for attendance. SUNY Polytechnic is exactly what I... Read More

I take all my classes online, so it is hard for me to comment on location, surrounding areas, etc. However, the professors are very responsive online. The workload is light enough that one can still work part or full time while attending the online classes, while remaining challenging. I am halfway through the program, and I am very happy with my choice to attend this school.

Many areas did not apply to me as an online- only student. I think the program is great, but can't comment on affordability or the local area.

Only been enrolled in the Grad program for one semester so far but the professors seem knowledgeable and interested in their students. I commute 3 nights a week but I can properly comment on all aspects of the campus because I lived on campus during my undergrad.

The accounting program is perfect for students who are also working full-time. I have learned a lot from my professors and peers. Although it is an online program, I have never had a problem with contacting professors. If someone is looking for an affordable, online, graduate accounting program that makes you CPA eligible this should be a strong choice!
