I am honored to be able to review my experience thus far with the UAB Masters of Nursing program. I am currently obtaining a specialty of Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Having completed extensive research regarding successful yet challenging programs in the nation, I was pleased to find that this program ranks extremely high in its reputation. It is well known for its academics, career outcomes, and the ability to accommodate a variety of students, both local and nonlocal. Most... Read More

Degree: Nursing

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has one of the leading nursing programs in the country. I am currently pursuing an accelerated master's in nursing pathway program for those who do not have a bachelor's degree in nursing. The program is fast paced, but the faculty are willing to help you with any questions and are approachable. I would recommend this program and school to anyone who is interested in nursing and enjoys a fast paced learning environment!

UAB is an amazing school. The curriculum is rigorous, but not impossible. The faculty listens to students and often incorporates ideas submitted by us to better the program. Everyone is very approachable and frequent contact is encouraged. You do not feel like a number or a random student without a name; the faculty members go out of their way to establish a relationship with their students.

Very good program. I was pleased with the curriculum and it accommodated well with my work schedule. I was able to work and go to school at the same time. The faculty were all very helpful. The program has since gone to an all online program but I still would recommend.

Degree: Nursing

When I started researching graduate level programs in nursing, I knew I wanted to attend an university that offered an online program, ranked highly compared to other schools in the nation, and provided a specialized program for students interested in Mental Health. I selected the University of Alabama at Birmingham for graduate studies in nursing, because they offered a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric-Mental Health MSN program 100% online and the U.S. news recognized this school as one of the best... Pros: able to access program via online platform from my residence in Alaska. Cons: The program seems to accept students who are not ready for the load i.e. people who have only been nurses for a year are pursuing a MSN-- they are not prepared.

The AMNP program at the University of AL, Birmingham is a fast paced top notch Nursing program that allows post-bachelorate students the opportunity to get paid for what they love doing. The professors understand their students and go out of their way to help. The program prepares their students well for success once they complete their work in classes. The AMNP is also hard work, though, and isn't for the faint-hearted. It demands your focus and attention. Like every school their is busy work and... Read More
