Degree: Nurse Practitioner (Family)
I really like the program. I really like that it’s attainable while still working for the most part. I moved to part time which helped a lot. I loved the residency part. That really helped me feel more confident in skills. The only “okay” thing is that some teachers I feel don’t come prepared. And they don’t know the material. In adult and geri 1 and 2. Mostly 2. The teacher didn’t understand blackboard. And it made it hard to follow along. And I didn’t like the change of assignments.

I do appreciate the university for providing a platform to vouce our experiences, opinions, and feedback. Overall, I have not been pleased with the program flow or teaching methods, as there is very little "teaching" being provided. I have asked since the beginning of the program if we could have the hybrid/on campus courses' lectures made available to us, to no avail. Luckily, I have been in a unique position where my husband is an M.D. so his knowledge has helped me through the program, but I have... Read More

The online format allowed me to have the flexibility I needed, and the instructors were very well qualified. I felt I had support during the whole process and was challenged to learn at the same time. I did feel there could be improvement in assistance in finding clinical experiences. In my area finding preceptors for certain areas was very challenging and the school policy did indicate that they would assist us. I was provided with a list of preceptors in my area, didn't receive any follow up as... Read More

Degree: Nurse Practitioner (Family)
I am currently enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner masters program at the University of Phoenix. My ultimate goal in my professional career has always been to become a nurse practitioner. Before becoming a student at the University of Phoenix, I was attending a California State University for the same degree program. I have to admit my experience at Cal State was not very pleasant. As a new student, I had many question and concerns and looked for help with the instructors. However, they were... Read More

The University of Phoenix MSN/FNP program is designed around the student's current career schedule. It incorporates online, in-class, and on clinic location training. The instructors themselves are ambitious, having practices of their own, serving on state boards and committees, and advancing their education.
