During my capstone class, my final assignment grade was MA. My final class grade was MA. All of my class grades were MA. Five days after that last grade was posted, it was changed to NM. I got a message from the instructor that my comp 3 grade was changed after consulting with the program chair, stating a video presentation was required. I had submitted a video presentation. It stated the voice over presentation did not meet the standard. The rubric did not state that the student needed to be seen... Read More in the video or that an audience was needed. All other video presentations were similar to my submission. This caused a lot of stress for me. I reached out to my mentor and the instructor. The mentor did not understand why the grade was changed. She had seen my final the grade the day prior and knew I had completed that class, and the program about two months before the deadline. I finally was able to talk to the instructor who minimized this stating it was still being reviewed, and I should know for sure in a week. That is not what the message said. It was not still being reviewed. My grade had been changed from MA to NM. I re-prepared another video presentation to be ready to resubmit. My grade was changed back to MA the next day with no explanation or message. I reached out and then got a voicemail that the instructor had decided to change my grade back to MA. I confirmed that this would not change again with final grades. Two months later when grades were finalized, I received a group message that grades were finalized. My grade did not finalize on 5/26 as the message stated. I reached out the professor that day. I did not get a response, but my grade did finalize. A few days later I called in to check and confirm. My grades were final, and I requested my final transcript. On 5/29, I got a response from the instructor that she would check on my grades. This made no sense since they were finalized, and the instructor should know that. I already had my final transcript and had expedited my diploma. This experience at the end of my program was very stressful and disappointing. I hope no other student has to experience this miscommunication and communication breakdown in a master's level program. I have graduated with distinction and did well in my program. I prioritized my coursework and communication with my instructors. During this final experience, I did not feel respected as a student and professional. As I student, I was very dedicated to my education and had high standards for my performance. These changes, errors, and corrections were very traumatic at the time they occurred. Again, I hope another student does not ever have to experience this, which is why I am informing you of my experience.
