UW- Madison has a great school of social work program. I never lived on campus so I don't have a great perspective on campus life.

Offers a world class education, though the political climate creates uncertainty for underprivileged students and professors' retention.

The educational program is of excellent quality. The professors are all currently working in the field, so they bring invaluable and up-to-date knowledge into the classroom. I have had nothing, but kind, pleasant interactions with the students and the faculty.

UW-Madison was supportive of international internship experiences and offered an excellent macro-social work program. It was a great school and carried good prestige for it's social work program.

UW-Madison has a beautiful campus and is nestled within a fun town. However, there are administrative issues that may make some marginalized groups feel unwelcome and possibly unsafe.

The pros of UW-Madison's part-time Master in Social Work program is that is has two sites: one in Madison and one in Eau Claire. This way it reaches a larger base of students and making it more convenient to attend. It holds classes on Saturday which allows the student to continue working throughout the week. The cons are that although the program is part-time, it often feels like a full-time program with the workload. It also has limited opportunities for financial assistance other than loans.

UW-Madison is one of the top-ranked master's level graduate programs in the nation. As a Wisconsin resident, tuition is an excellent value for the degree I am seeking. All courses are taught by faculty, and the TAs that lead the discussion sections for some courses are highly knowledgable and well-versed in the material. Public transportation in Madison is phenomenal; you can get nearly anywhere in the city by bus, and Madison was rated sixth most bike friendly city in the nation by bicycling.com.... Read More
