Degree: MBA

I completed my MBA at Western Governors University in 2015, and overall I had a very positive experience. The competency-based model was a perfect fit for my schedule, allowing me to move quickly through areas I was already strong in while spending more time on subjects that required deeper focus. The coursework was practical, relevant, and closely aligned with what I’ve encountered in real-world business environments.

My program mentors and course instructors were responsive and supportive, which... Read More

Earning my MBA at WGU had a direct, positive impact on my career. It helped open doors to new roles, increased my confidence in business decision-making, and gave me credentials that employers recognize and respect. I would absolutely recommend WGU to anyone who wants a flexible and career-focused path to a graduate degree.

WGU was a great experience. The self-paced model truly helped me manage being a full-time employed professional, parent and student. The most helpful aspect of this was the ability to study the course materials when I had the time, whether it be nights or weekends, I could work on the course material for an hour or several hours at a time. The student interface learning environment was user friendly. I would love to attend WGU again should a Doctoral program be introduced.

I love WGU is a great University fully accredited! Is affordable and is perfect for someone who work FT and is looking to develop it self. I completed a BS and an MBA and it was the best decision ever. I loved that I didn’t needed to complete weekly discussions. Your progress depends on you.

I went to three other universities prior to WGU. I left them because the busy work and dragging out classes for 4-6 months at a time wasn't how I liked to learn. I found WGU and completed my first Bachelor's at my own pace, which I loved. I had a great mentor who helped me accelerate my degree plan and was super supportive. I went on to finish a Master's with them and am now entering another Bachelor's in a completely different field because they're one of only two universities who don't want to... Read More

I did notice in our school Facebook groups that some people complain about their mentors, but you can change your mentor at any time, so I don't get the complaining. Don't like them? Not responding? Super annoying? Tell the school and get a new one, easy. I don't have any real complaints with WGU, it's miles better than any other school I've attended (two state schools, one Ivy league). I highly recommend this university!

I recently finished my WGU MBA. I've read some mentor horror stories but that was not my experience. I did my entire MBA in a single term. That is a lot of work but a motivated person can do it. I work full 50-60 hours per week and completed it, The work is not easy but the work is manageable. I am fortunate because I have a lot of experience in business and have a CPA. Therefore, the accounting courses which can be troublesome for some were easy for me. All of the objective tests were material I... Read More

"Wow". WGU has been a great ride. I recommend this school to anyone who wants to push their limits and fulfill their dreams. I was able to complete the program in one term. That doesn't mean it was easy, it fully tested my knowledge and abilities. This is the working person's degree program.

Great non profit school that really is flexible to those who work. No pre set times at all! Also can accelerate as fast your as slow as you want. Cant beat the price for a regionally accredited school especially if you are a go getter. Overall very happy with my education. I think with the global pandemic online education will only become more and more normalized.

This school is perfect for people who are either experienced in their field, or students who are hard workers looking to blast through a degree program at record-pace. All classes have some videos made by instructors, and instructors respond very quickly to any questions you may have. My only gripe - I have not been able to find decent employment, and the school cannot assist beyond the basics.

As someone who was a working software consultant and project manager, I was able to easily translate my work experience from my job to about 1/2 of the classes in both the MBA and MSML. The MSML was 7 classes after my MBAIT. You have to do the work and read and learn yourself, but you can blow through a lot of classes. I am onto my PhD applications now with transfer credits by taking both of these masters in under 9 months.

WGU is designed for disciplined students who would have a difficulty attending traditional classroom courses. The school is an amazing value and solved two of my biggest discontents with higher education: too much time and money to obtain a degree. Even though the degree can be obtained relatively quickly and for substantially less than other universities, quality is not lacking. The MBA program had some low points (such as financial management and operations management) where you may need to seek... Read More

Best decision I ever made was attending Western Governors University. Believe it or not, although it's an online school, you really get a sense of community and an abundance of support from faculty and students (through support and social media pages sych as FB and Reddit). From entrance to finish, my experience at WGU has been great.

I'm giving this a 0 star review because the entrance counselor I had at the beginning gave me false information about financial aid and ultimately wasted my time. 0 stars because the financial aid is a joke and won't let you take out student loans in order to go to school and live life. Waste of time applying to this school. The people working there should be on the same page and give out the same information instead of everyone saying something different.

Excellent MBA program for people who are driven. I highly recommend this to people who know their knowledge from experience will wipe out roughly 3/4 of any Master's program. Perhaps my accounting degree and financial background provided me a leg up on courses that may trip up others, but I was able to complete the program in a year and was grateful to apply a few nuggets from the economics courses to my job (great for strategic planning). If you are driven and have progressed steadily through your... Read More

Excellent school and program! WGU is a fantastic opportunity if you are a self-starter, organized, and enjoy learning online. However, if you can't set your own deadlines and stick to them of if you like a lot of prompting, WGU might not be the best school for you. I already had two degrees from a large public university before getting my MBA, so that previous college experience is my frame of reference for evaluating WGU.

I had an excellent experience with WGU. The courses were very challenging. I transferred credits from credits in from 3 other hard-sided universities in Colorado and Montana due to life and interest changes. I ended up finishing both my bachelors in Business Management and my MBA through WGU because it was so high quality. I had incredible access to course mentors, and engaged in online lectures and interactive learning sessions. Both of my student mentors were incredible, and the school was very... Read More

Going at my own pace made it so it was possible for me to get my masters degree. No other school would have allowed for me to do it. However, it was REALLY tough.

Overall, WGU is a great experience. You have to look at the trade-offs though as far as MBAs go. Pros: - Far cheaper education; - Accredited education; - Can complete the program faster than a traditional program since it is self-paced; - Academic support is excellent (mentors contact you once a week); and - GMAT is not required. Cons: - Limited development track (no electives); - Limited (to no) professional development support; - Limited opportunity to develop interpersonal relationships with other... Read More

I started out my WGU journey with some friction. At first I extremely disliked the pass/fail system. I felt as though sometimes my work would otherwise at worst be considered a "B", but if any portions were missing I would fail. This was frustrating until I got the hang of what was expected. With all things, there is a learning curve. Once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing. The curriculum was challenging and you can't beat the format/self paced study. It was the only option I had, as I... Read More

WGU is a great program for anyone wanting to get a secondary degree at their own pace and own time
