No help from "teachers". Yelled at for asking for it. The few others that saw these things happened, intervened to help me.
I was the Victim of a Hate Crime at Public School site where I was interning; called racial names and mocked all day by students... the teacher jumped in thinking it was funny, until I finally left, after several periods of this.
WGU and the School District tried to cover it up. WGU Suspended my degree plan, trying to shift blame to me, after ignoring me for several days, from... Read More
Title IX was finally involved. WGU tried to block it. Months later, Title IX did an investigation. The School District who tried to dodge was pulled back out, forced to apologize by letter and punish the teachers.
WGU closed the Title IX Investigation behind my back without notice.
I was dropped after 2 years of suspension and coercion into taking the plan through 'Restorative Work'.
I was also verbally abused by staff during this time, some I refused to work further with.
There are better options... at the time I and my coworkers at the Public Schools attended this place, there weren't, years ago.
Do research, find better online schools with Teaching Programs... they exist.
You have been severely warned. These people devote a ton of time and resources to keeping a clean image and have tried to remove my reviews that are valid and proven several times. Yet will not work with me, and caused me irreparable damage and sacring for life.
Online searched reveal "communications gaps" between staff and students. These are planned and implemented. You will be alone here almost entirely and you will not be sent letters if anything happens... you have to request them and half the time be ignored.
You have been warned about this place.
I am a 4.0 Honors Student of Clark College and Drury University, Dean's List.
I am having to redo my entire Masters Degree over again with Teaching Cert., while contesting the Debt. this place racked up through FAFSA through a multi year investigation.
You have been warned.
The Hate Crime was proven through Title IX and WGU practiced Deliberate Indifference with the offending School District, until I could get Title IX through, which was actively being blocked for months. Everything is proven and I am still seeking Justice for this.

I am doing my grad program online. Although I miss the in-class experience, an online program allows me to work full time (40 hours a week). WGU staff are very helpful, there are many people you can talk on the phone with or via webcam, and they utilize technology to the best of their ability. I have always been an independent learner, so taking classes online fits my study-skills. However, there is a lot of information to read online, and sometimes it is hard to focus on the computer for long periods... Read More

Pros: Work at own pace, competency based, affordable Cons: Very limited student interactions, course mentors not course instructors, hard to get explanations in a timely manner.

WGU is an excellent university. I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Education- Mathematics 5-9 program. I am given 6 months to complete 8 credit hours. I complete one class at a time. My advisor is wonderful we have weekly conference calls. If I need help I can email her or call and she gets back to me the same day. The test or either computer based test or a variety of written assignments called Tasks. The computer based test can be taken at a test center or supervised my webcam procter at... Read More

WGU is non profit so not as expensive and I like the way their program works. I had a student mentor that called me weekly the first six months then bi-weekly after. She helped me set goals and provided a lot of encouragement and assistance. Whenever I was having a problem I could count on her to either help me herself or get someone else at the university that was moire knowledgeable about my specific dilemma. You can get your Masters in two years. Semesters are 6 months and you work on a certain... Read More

It is great to be able to work on classes when I have the time, not when I am told I have to be. It is competency based learning, so I can move at my own pace. Flat rate tuition is great! I have been able to work though 6 classes (and still counting) in a single 6 month term and yet still pay the same thing as if I had only completed 4 classes. Online schooling is the way to go for someone wanting a graduate degree but has a full time job and a busy schedule.

The pros are my program is flexible. I can complete the work on my own time and at my pace. Even though my program is online they always have professors and support groups available to help you. My program is extremely rigorous. Some would consider that a con, but I think that is one of the things that make it special.
