Many reviewers value the small, community-oriented environment, active campus life, and career preparation, including internships, externships, and leadership opportunities. Affordability and supportive online services also stand out. Criticism is more concentrated in specific areas, where reviewers describe inconsistent instruction, limited guidance, disorganization, and weak internship support. Why we like them: LSU has a strong retention rate of 84%, which demonstrates a commitment to student satisfaction and course continuation. Impressively, the median earnings for graduates stand at $71,624 annually, showcasing a solid return on investment and positioning the university in the top 28% for earnings potential. The curriculum is designed to equip you with essential skills in public accounting, industry, not-for-profit, and governmental sectors. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the program offers two concentrations: Accounting Information Systems and Data Analytics, and Fraud and Forensic Accounting. This degree also prepares you for the CPA examination, with specific pathways to cater to those interested in technological advancements and financial investigations.

Student Review Summary: Reviews portray LSU as a largely positive experience defined by strong school spirit, an active social scene, and professors who are often caring, accessible, and effective at preparing you for careers, licensure, research, or further study. Affordability, especially for in-state attendees and online learners, is a recurring advantage, along with flexible formats, broad extracurricular options, and valuable networking. Many reviewers say success depends on personal initiative because the university’s size can make it easy to get lost. The most consistent frustrations involve poor advising, uneven course quality in large lower-level classes, outdated facilities in some areas, and perceptions that athletics can overshadow academics.

Online degree:

Why we like them: We recognize UHC for its low student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1, which places the school in the top 17% for this metric, enabling personalized attention and support. The program allows completion in just 20 months, emphasizing flexibility with a 40% tuition discount and the acceptance of up to 66 transfer credits. You'll take 8-week accounting classes and 4- or 15-week business classes; the former requiring weekly, synchronous online sessions. Its curriculum encompasses 120 credit hours, focusing on preparing students for the CPA exam by fulfilling Louisiana's specific educational requirements.

Student Review Summary: Reviews of the University of Holy Cross lean positive overall, driven by two very strong ratings and repeated praise for its small-campus experience. Students say small class sizes create meaningful discussion, closer relationships with professors, and more individualized guidance throughout coursework. Faculty are frequently described as hands-on, caring, and willing to help students succeed step by step. The smaller setting is seen as practical rather than exciting, giving students the tools they need without the energy of a larger campus. One notable criticism is concern about declining academic rigor, with claims that some courses are taught by inexperienced alumni and that the institution feels overly credential-focused.

I would not do this school because they cannot get my accommodations right and tried to find other alternatives. The only solution is that I retake the test again, which was not helpful and did not resolve the issue. The test proctors are a joke and do not follow rules especially when it comes from disabled students. This school is unstructured and does not respect their students especially when it comes to accommodations. If you do not believe me, try it out for a while and you will see the truth.... Read More

Edison State is a great school for adults who are self-directed, who have credits from other schools, and who are willing to put in the work and time to finish their degrees. Being self-directed is critical. TESU has a lot of different ways to earn credits, such as taking courses online, testing out of courses (TECEP, CLEP, DSST, e-Pack, etc), portfolio evaluations, and transferring credits from other schools. Portfolios are a great way to go for adults who have a lot of experience in a particular... Read More

My experience at Upper Iowa University was very good. I participated in a hybrid program. I really liked and excelled with the online program. The classroom with an instructor puts us in a real world situation, which was awesome. All instructors at the school were very knowledgeable and were helpful in my experience. ACCOUNTING GRAD, Graduated 2018

Loved the small town location of the University, met great people, and there is always plenty of stuff going on. Don't go to Bloom if you want to get an Accounting degree. The majority of the professors in the department are horrible, could care less about the students, and find it funny to fail people instead of helping them (I didn't fail, I just saw it happen a lot).
