I just want to say that I read some of these reviews and for people to say this school is a scam is RIDICULOUS! I mean the application process to get into the college is pretty spot on for what it requires of you to succeed! Yeah it's expensive but the end outweighed that for me. I did the test out option on the exams so I can't comment on their actual "online" courses. Yes I struggled with obtaining the right stuff to have my CPNE application approved. As far as a wait time for my CPNE- I scheduled the same day my application was accepted. And had 3 months to study. I was worried about that but I used pneumonics like all other students have stated. They are what gets you through. I tested in Wisconsin. I passed my first attempt. But let me tell you i was extremely nervous on my first day and failed both PCS..... and I almost quit. I told the Clinical Administrator I wasn't coming back the next day.....but I did. I passed all 3 the second day and I graduated on January 21, 2022!!! Yes it's nerve wracking. But know your pneumonics for every critical element. Always do an apical pulse!!! Learned that the hard way. Wisconsin had great staff and clinical examiners. Yes a few were nasty and I let it get to me my first day. But listen, you will never have to see them again. If you put in the time, you can succeed!!

I am very disappointed in the lack of communication between the staff (not necessarily the instructors, I have no bad experience with the instructors at this point) and the students. I have found that no one wants to assist you if you have questions, emails will go unanswered, you ask questions of one person you are told to contact another and that person never responds. I would recommend seeking out other programs if they are available to you and meet your needs. The 2 programs that I decided against... Read More have contacted me multiple times and only stopped when I told them I have decided on Galen. I knew much more about their programs then I still do about Galen and I have been attending Galen for 2 weeks now. I plan on discussing further with loan servicers and grant programs as I would expect if they are accepting government money they have some sort of responsibility to the students they are receiving those funds from. This program may be a good program for a person that is familiar with college and online courses however if you are not I recommend you stay far away.

I see a lot of negative reviews on this school for the nursing program, but I on the other hand loved it. Because I travel a lot, it was great to be able to access my classes on my own time from my own computer. The key to this school (especially the nursing curriculum) is to definitely learn how to take the initiative to study and learn the lessons on your own. I recommend this program to all my colleagues as I hear horror stories of people flunking out of the overpriced schools that demand so much time and money. You are provided a teacher you can communicate with and it always seemed that in every situation I faced someone at the school tried to help in some way. The only thing I would say is to check up on the requirements that you need for your state, as not all (but most) will accept a degree from excelsior. The CPNE was a challenge but since I took mine during Covid, there was no wait and I got to do a zoom test. It was one of the things that made me hesitant for this program, but it is possible and it should not deter you in deciding on this school as it really is no different or harder than any other nursing exam. I was also afraid I would not be successful as I am not the best with technology, but the courses are straightforward and simple to navigate. As healthcare looks toward the future, I am surprised there are not more online schools like this one. I have to say all in all excelsior was a fulfilling experience for me and helped me reach my career goals and I have no regrets whatsoever. Some may be afraid of a job not wanting to hire you because of graduating from an online school, but that is not true at all, as lots of people are impressed and realize that you have what it takes to be a hard worker. This school is awful from it's customer service to information it puts out. It seems like they have ONE phone tree for anything and everything you need. You wait on hold for absurd amounts of time (30 minutes to almost an hour). No one seems to know any answers to your questions and always pawn you off on another person or department. I originally began my admissions in June 2017, I couldn't start until spring 2018 because they lost my application, never processed my transcripts, and never bothered... Read More to email me. I would call every day and no one could assist with my lost transcripts. They were mysteriously found in a "folder" where transcripts can't be matched to students who applied for admission after I threatened to file a complaint with the Department of Education. Fast forward to applying for the nursing program and I can't! Their admission applications are insane and so limited in options. I can't roll in person since I am out of state until the fall, so every form of help has been limited to phone or email. FSCJ IS THE WORST SCHOOL TO GO. SAVE YOUR TIME, ENERGY, AND MONEY!!!! Poorest customer service, rude counselors, and inept phone system.

Warning Do not Go to Excelsior college for nursing!!! After taking about a .year and a 1/2 to complete the course work you have to complete a weekend clinical. It takes another year to be scheduled. Had to travel to utica ny from Fl at a cost of 1000 hotel airfare car rental. The clinical piece sets you up for failure from the beginning. You have to give meds within 35 minutes in lab portion which is far harder then it should be. This includes dose calculation research of med, documentation and giving... Read More meds. I was not able to complete in 35 minutes and automatic failure. Wait another year at a cost of another two or three thousand.

Excelsior College may seem like a time saving godsend but do not waste your time if you intend on pursuing an additional degree. There is a year plus waiting period for your final requirement and it's costly and I just found out that the A and P they offer does not transfer. You will have to take it again with a lab. There are also additional requirements for you to practice in most states other than New York and Washington and California will not even recognize your degree. I met my wife after I... Read More had enrolled and was almost done with the degree, she is active duty Navy and if we had gotten stationed somewhere other than Virginia my license would not have been valid, and even Virginia had additional requirements. Do yourself a favor, don't do what I did, if you are in the market for an ADN just go to a local community college, or better yet a university and go straight to your BSN.

I have been enrolled for 4 1/2 years and it was a great experience for me. It allowed go to remember how to PUSH THROUGH. I just completed CPNE virtually and successfully passed. I had a lot of family struggles and hardship during those 4 1/2 years which allowed me to pick up where I left off after dealing with family deaths (sister, motherNlaw, brother’s and Father). I am done now and I really appreciate all the staff at Excelsior College. Read your study guide, watch the Excelsior videos, document just as they say do and YOU CAN DO THIS.
