Key Takeaways:
- The two highest-rated exercise science programs online do not have earnings data. Bryan and Parker lead in student reviews, but their financial outcomes cannot be compared with the rest of the list.
- Paying more does not appear to produce a higher salary among earners with an exercise science degree.
- Cameron stands out when it comes to overall value. It combines the lowest tuition, a perfect recommendation rate, and the highest reported median salary.
How We Rank "Best" Schools
The OnlineU research team verifies that only institutionally accredited schools offering at least one fully online bachelor's in exercise science degree make the cut. On top of that, schools must also have at least five verified student reviews and an aggregate rating of 2.5+ on a five-point scale. While some of our rankings include partner schools, every school is evaluated using the exact same criteria.
We prioritize the most relevant student feedback by starting with reviews tied to the exact program and degree level. If too few bachelor's in exercise science qualify, we gradually expand the review pool to include related programs or other degree levels, while preserving the most program-specific results at the top of the list. This process continues until all eligible review data has been considered.
We also manually research all tuition rates and include median earnings for exercise science majors five years after graduation when that data is available. By presenting the most complete data available, we aim to give you an honest, well-rounded picture of each program.

Compare the Highest-Rated Online Bachelor's Degrees in Exercise Science
Among the online exercise science programs with earnings data, Cameron reports the highest median earnings at $52,549 among graduates with this degree, but the gap is narrow. Eastern Oregon and Concordia Chicago are both just above $50,700. That makes tuition and program structure especially useful for adding context, since earnings alone do not sharply separate these schools. For students considering careers in fitness, strength and conditioning, wellness, or graduate study in allied health fields, the better question may be how much they are paying for the preparation they want.
Parker and Cameron both have 100% recommendation rates at the time of writing, meaning every reviewer included in the data said they would recommend the school. Their review ratings differ, however, at 4.57 and 3.86 out of 5, respectively.
Recommendation rate measures whether reviewers would recommend the school, while review rating captures their average overall score. Looking at both student satisfaction metrics can give you a more nuanced way to compare experiences within these exercise science programs online.
Stories Behind the Best Online Exercise Science Bachelor's Degrees: An Editorial Analysis
A Three-Year Route Through Exercise Science
Concordia University - St. Paul
CSP offers an accelerated pathway through exercise science. Alongside the traditional 120-credit bachelor’s, students can choose a 90-credit, three-year exercise science degree. Transfer students have an even shorter potential route. CSP states that those bringing in the maximum 90 transfer credits may be able to complete the bachelor’s in as little as one year. The accelerated format still incorporates an interest-matched internship, allowing students to gain local experience in exercise science while completing coursework online.
Performance Training With an EXOS Connection
Maryville University
Maryville has the most distinctive industry collaboration in this exercise science ranking through its work with EXOS, a human performance company known for training athletes and other high-performance populations. Maryville says two courses were developed through a first-of-its-kind educational agreement with EXOS, and students receive access to tools from the company’s training system. That gives the curriculum a connection to a specific performance methodology.
The degree also offers separate Strength and Conditioning and Wellness Management concentrations and carries recognition through the NSCA Education Recognition Program.
A Direct Route Toward the CSCS
Parker University
Among the top five schools, Parker earns another callout here because its online BS in Strength and Human Performance is CASCE-accredited through the NSCA, aligning the curriculum with the emerging educational standards for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential. Online students choosing the Strength and Conditioning concentration complete a 300-hour, full-time internship at a training facility, and the program director personally assists with finding a site suited to the student's career goals.
FAQs About Choosing the Best Online Exercise Science Degrees
What Should You Know Before Choosing an Online Exercise Science Degree?
Exercise science is one of many health science degrees that focus on physical fitness and general well-being. An online bachelor's in exercise science can be a smart educational foundation for individuals who want to help others achieve their health, fitness, and sports performance goals. In addition, it can lay the groundwork for further education in a graduate degree program.
Colleges offer online exercise science degrees at the associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. (We have a whole page dedicated to the exercise science master's degrees online.) At the undergraduate level, most programs result in a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Exercise Science. A BS program typically includes specialized courses on the fundamentals of human anatomy, movement, nutrition, and sports psychology. Some programs offer concentrations, such as strength and conditioning, kinesiology, or coaching, but if you're interested in dedicating an entire program to one of those subjects, sometimes those are available as an alternative. For example, we have a list of the best online kinesiology programs.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college may also be an admission requirement for a graduate program.
It's also possible for professional organizations to review and provide accreditation for individual programs in a specific discipline. For exercise science, the authorized accrediting organization is the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). You can search the to find out if the program you're considering is accredited.

Cost may also influence your decision to earn an exercise science degree online. Some schools charge lower tuition fees for distance education students, and online students don't need to pay for college room and board or transportation. If you're concerned about saving money on your degree, remember that online learners are just as eligible for financial aid as their on-campus counterparts so be sure to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form.
The application deadlines and admissions criteria of each school on your list may impact your decision as well. Some colleges are more selective and only accept applicants who have earned a high school GPA of at least 2.8 or possibly higher. Also, the most selective schools often set earlier application deadlines. If you're applying to a school with a low acceptance rate, you may need to submit your application as much as a full year before the fall semester when you plan to start.

The thing I loved the most about Dixie was the individual attention I received from the administration while planning my degree. I am a transfer student from Liberty University Online Business school, so my transfer to an Exercise Science program was complicated to say the least. I also wanted my curriculum to allow me to be eligible for Med school at Ponce in Puerto Rico. The administration at Dixie was incredibly helpful in allowing me to do fit everything in.
