Online colleges in Texas include a variety of public and private institutions of all sizes that grant bachelor's degrees. Anyone considering going to college in Texas might research online programs for the flexibility and convenience they offer. The state's online degree options include various majors, including the most popular study subjects in the U.S.: business, health professions, social sciences, and psychology. Some of these majors can serve as foundations for some of the highest-paying jobs for college graduates, often requiring graduate degrees.
We have compiled a list of online colleges in Texas, ranked by Salary Score and online enrollment. This data-driven approach empowers you to make informed decisions about your future. View our methodology for more details about our list, or learn about OnlineU.
How We Rank "Best" Schools
For the featured state, the OnlineU research team ranks institutionally accredited colleges and universities in each featured state using Salary Score, our proprietary measure of how graduates' earnings compare with those of students who earned the same degrees elsewhere. Using U.S. Department of Education earnings data, we compare each college's graduates with graduates of the same degrees nationwide, providing a degree-level perspective of financial outcomes rather than relying on institution-wide earnings.
When there isn't enough data to calculate a reliable Salary Score, we rank eligible schools by online enrollment, highlighting colleges with larger, more established distance-learning communities. While some of our rankings include partner schools, every school is evaluated using the exact same criteria.

I am continually impressed by how much this institution, its staff and faculty, and even its students are constantly trying to improve everything about this school. There is an amazing atmosphere here that helps everyone feel included, welcomed, and successful. While the coursework is very demanding,... Read More Anyone who attends college knows that it is not just about classes though. The social atmosphere is very fun, active, engaging, and lively. There are so many things to do on campus and off campus, and you have the reassurance that you will be with a good crowd of people due to the strict honor code in place. Many people who have never been here think the honor code (with dress and grooming standards, zero alcohol/tobacco/drugs, and morality standards) is too restrictive, but as someone who has lived it, I can tell you firsthand that it actually is very freeing. When you are not entangled with all of the addictions, distractions, health issues, side effects, financial issues, and emotional problems, you really can focus on your schooling, and on developing a rewarding social life as well. The campus is beautiful, and the experiences you gain here are even more so. Review Date: 9/27/2012 Would Recommend: Yes Helpful for Career: Yes Well I attend the campus in Morrow Ga and I love it. This semester we are taking two classes-Pharmacology and Nursing Fundamentals. Pharm is hard, but the teacher is top-notch. She knows how to teach and everyone likes her. UIC-Chicago is a top quality educational institution with an excellent reputation in my chosen field of Health Informatics. I love the fact that I can attend from a distance, as an older student, it is difficult to uproot a family, the online option makes choosing/attending the right school possible. The cons are definitely the cost of the education, but anything of value costs. I would highly recommend UIC-Chicago. Review Date: 4/21/2015 Would Recommend: Yes Helpful for Career: No The graduate program offers excellent online resources, technical support and access to faculty. The only con to the program is the absence of the on-ground atmosphere. This may be seen as a benefit as well. You gain a deeper understanding of the course material; fosters independence. Review Date: 4/3/2016 Would Recommend: Yes Helpful for Career: No The program is challenging, but the faculty is available to help students along the way. Instructors have real-world experience relating to the topics of which they teach. They can provide students first hand experience and knowledge, which contributes to students' understanding and success within the course. It is a matter of personal preference, but I would like more courses via campus-based learning rather than online delivery.
